Occupational therapy is a rewarding client-focused profession well suited for those who wish to provide direct care to patients in a variety of settings The combined BS OTD in Health Sciences Occupational Therapy is a joint program with Thomas Jefferson University TJU While a student at UD you will study a broad range of sciences biology chemistry anatomy physiology nutrition as well as the social sciences general psychology abnormal psychology sociology and human development and will be excellently prepared for the occupational therapy coursework at TJU As an occupational therapist you will rely on your knowledge and skills in these areas to help clients achieve independence in all facets of their lives at work at home and in social and community settings You will work closely with patients to help them adapt to or compensate for physical and emotional effects of disabilities improve motor function communication and reasoning abilities learn or re-learn the day-to-day skills necessary for independent and productive lives
