The Kansas State University GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science is nationally recognized for preparing graduates for careers in engineering and construction The combination of these two programs in one department is unique and prepares students to work effectively as professional members of an integrated architecture-engineering-constructor team and produce quality design and construction of the built environment The research interests of the department s faculty cover the following major areas of modern building systems design lighting electrical heating and air conditioning plumbing structural analysis cold-formed steel design energy analysis energy auditing acceptance testing and indoor air quality Research interests also cover structural building systems including timbers masonry steel reinforced concrete and seismic design
